Pasco County Mosquito Control District (PCMCD) services all residents with the boundaries of Pasco County.  Once an area becomes part of the PCMCD, a property owner is charged an annual mosquito control services fee which is noted in the Truth-in-Millage, or TRIM, notice issued by the Pasco County Tax Collectors Office.

During the last 70 years, there have been vast changes in application techniques, products used, product formulations and the available equipment. We are constantly looking for better, more efficient ways to perform our tasks, while saving our residents money when possible. PCMCD takes great pride in keeping our equipment in great shape and consistently available so it is always ready for the next mission. We also are a leader in equipment modifications and are frequently consulted to share our ideas with other county mosquito programs.

PCMCD monitors Pasco County by inspecting and trapping on a daily basis. Our focus is to control mosquitoes in the aquatic immature stages before they become flying and biting adult mosquitoes. If we can successfully treat the larvae before they emerge, the public will never see the adult biting females. Unfortunately, some mosquitoes do emerge from the various cryptic habitats and we do our best to reduce the adult biting populations. Our goal is to provide a comfortable outdoor environment for Pasco County citizens and reduce the threat of diseases that can be transmitted by mosquitoes.

The history of PCMCD is directly linked to the success in controlling mosquitoes and diminishing the diseases they carry. Beyond mosquito populations we also monitor several mosquito borne diseases such as Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE), St. Louis Encephalitis (SLE) and West Nile Virus. We are also in close communication with the Pasco County Health Department to monitor imported cases of Dengue fever, Chikungunya virus and Zika virus.
